Updating the exterior design of a home is a large project that cannot be taken lightly. After all, your home is a major investment, and the exterior is something that reflects your style. With so many home materials choices on the market, making changes to the exterior of your home can be daunting, because it needs to be something that you like for a long time.
House Background:
Our house was built in 2005 and we purchased it in 2008. It is a two-story colonial with both siding and stonework on the exterior. When we bought the house, there was barely any landscaping and the backyard was weeds and rocks, so we spent the first few years concentrating on the exterior landscaping. We also had a lot of work to do on the interior, even though it was a newer home. The previous owner only owned it briefly before they sold it to us, so the inside was still painted builder’s white with very few amenities and upgrades.

The DZINLY Process:
This was my first time using an exterior design service, but as a homeowner using DZINLY, the process could not have been easier and only took a few minutes.
The instructions were easy to follow, and I was able to submit a photograph of my home's exterior straight from my phone! No hassle over fancy cameras or professional photographs was necessary.
After answering a few questions, I added inspirational photos I had saved from Pinterest, along with a picture of a house in my neighborhood I really disliked! My project was sent to a network of designers. I then received an email from my assigned Design Coordinator letting me know exactly how the process would go:
? Within two business days, I would receive an email notification to review the proposed design palettes.
? Once approved, DZINLY will provide me with completed renderings within one business day. There is an ability to toggle between the various design components.
? A Design Coordinator was available by email for questions and concerns.
I was notified shortly after submitting my project that I did need to provide a new image with better light exposure. The sun was creating too many shadows. That’s another cool thing I learned about DZINLY, they render on your actual image. Only changing areas of the house you requested to be changed. That way it provides the most realistic render with colors and materials.
Design Palettes:
After I submitted my new image I was overjoyed when I got the email letting me know my design pallets were ready for me to review within two days!
I received three design palettes from three different designers for the stonework, siding, trim, and front door, based on those being the areas that I chose to change on the exterior design. All three presented slightly different styles with their own color palettes.
Rendering:
After selecting the palette we wanted to see rendered on our home the rendering was delivered just one day after finalizing the color palette. It was truly remarkable to see our vision come to life, what made it even more exceptional was the option to toggle between our designer's original palette and additional swatches she expertly crafted based on the initially selected design. This thoughtful feature allowed us to explore various options, ensuring absolute confidence in the one we ultimately chose to implement in our home.
There is also a “See Original” button that allows you to toggle back and forth between the original and the new design. This is particularly helpful in seeing exactly how new siding and colors would look if we decided not to change the stone which may not be in our budget.
Implementing our design:
After deciding on the perfect design to upgrade our home we were ready to implement. DZINLY gave us the option to input our contractor's information. I learned if your contractor is a partner with DZINLY my project would be free to me! Once my contractor completed the easy sign-up I was not only refunded but my selected design render and all the specs and quantities were sent directly to him, which allowed him to give me a quote to complete the work the same day!
I love about our project never expires, if I ever feel like I need a change, I can always purchase a new material or color and view it in our house for just $5. Even if I decide I want to simply change my front door color. It's comforting to know that any future renovations can also be done with a designer that knows my style, and home.
You also have the option to add any architectural changes that do not currently exist on the home, for example, additional dormers, a bay window, or a large covered front porch. If you want to see additional options, you let your design coordinator know and they will coordinate with the designer to add these ideas to your toggle page for purchase. Once you submit any modifications, a revised price will be sent within one business day to make the updates that you requested.
Would I Choose DZINLY Again?
In one word, absolutely. I got professional designer opinions about the exterior design of my own home within three business days total. DZINLY provided me with a realistic representation of what the new materials and colors would look like on my home taking away any doubt on my decisions.
